Re-opening FAQs

Answering your most frequently asked questions about our gyms re-opening

UPDATED  26th April 2021

Are your gyms open?

ENGLAND – All our gyms in England re-opened on 12th April

SCOTLAND – All our gyms in Scotland re-opened on 26th April

WALES – All our gyms in Wales re-opened on 3rd May

Are numbers in the gym being restricted?

We are fortunate that our gyms are within very large buildings. This has given us the capacity to space out all our equipment to allow for safe social distancing and movement around the gym.

The Government suggested a time slot booking system as one example of managing capacity within gyms, however, we have an intelligent entry system within our turnstiles that counts the number of people entering and exiting the gym.  So, we always know how many people are in the gym at any one time and we have set alerts to inform the gym team if capacity reaches 80%.

If 80% capacity is reached, the gym team will have a presence at the entrance to ensure capacity and flow is managed.  This does not mean that we will turn people away if we reach 80%, it simply means we will monitor the flow and in the rare event it passes 90%, we would at that point consider asking members to wait momentarily until someone leaves.

We are highly confident that capacity won’t be reached, so please don’t overly worry about needing to queue.

Each of our gyms is slightly different and we will closely monitor usage at each site. Should any additional measures be required to keep our members safe then we will put them in place without delay.

Do I need to book to use the gym?

No.  Although the Government suggested a time slot booking system as one example of managing capacity within gyms, we have an intelligent entry system within our turnstiles that counts the number of people entering and exiting the gym.  So, we always know how many people are in the gym at any one time and we have set alerts to inform the gym team if capacity reaches 80%.

Will I have to queue to get in?

With social distancing measures in place, members will be required to keep their distance whilst entering and leaving the gym. This may mean it takes a few moments longer to get through the gates, but so far we’ve not had any queuing.

Please see the previous two answers also for further details on queues relating to capacity.

Is there is a limit to how long I can stay?

No, you will be able to use the gym for as long as you wish.   With in reason of course 🙂  No sleepovers 😉

What are your opening hours?

All of our gyms are running normal opening hours.

Are the changing rooms and showers open?

Yes, the changing rooms are open and you can use the shower facilities. We do however ask that where possible you come to the gym ready to workout and return home to shower. This is to assist with social distancing in the changing room areas.

The saunas are temporarily closed.

Members should exercise caution whilst using the changing facilities and keep their distance from others. We are operating a regular cleaning schedule to minimise risk.

Are the saunas open?

The saunas are temporarily closed. They will reopen once the Government guidelines permit.

Are the classes running?

England & Wales: Due to the restrictions imposed by the Government, we have had to temporarily suspend our classes. We will be back up and running as soon as we are permitted.

Scotland: Due to the restrictions imposed by the Scottish Government, we have had to temporarily suspend our classes.

Wales: Classes resumed on 3rd May with a limit of 15 people.

I’m an existing member, what happened with my payments?

If you were an existing member before lockdown your payments were frozen when we first closed. Your payments remained frozen until after your gym re-opened. Your next payment is/was debited on the regular date it’s due after we re-open.

Annual payers will have the time we were closed added on to the end of their annual membership.

Can I freeze my membership?

If you are still shielding, have childcare issues or if you just don’t feel comfortable despite all our safety measures, please don’t worry, you can request a 1 month membership freeze.  Please click here to request a freeze. Please note that we require at least 10 days’ notice to process your request.

I would like to join as a new member

You can sign up as a new member on our website. Please simply select the gym location you wish to join and click “Join Now”. Once you complete the sign up process you can start using the gym straight away.

Will I need to wear a mask?

England – it is not compulsory to wear a mask in gyms in England.

Scotland & Wales – As of Monday 14th September it is compulsory to wear a face covering when attending the gym.

Following the latest guidance from the Government, please wear a face covering when:

Preparing to exercise

You can remove your face covering when exercising, but please remember to keep your distance from others where possible.
