JD GYMS – GYM RULES
Welcome to JD Gyms. We want everyone to enjoy their fitness journey when visiting our gyms, respect each other and the gym rules that we have in place.
Our gym rules form part of our Terms and Conditions which you can read HERE.
Please take the time to read our gym rules (Updated December 2025):
1. Members need to agree to a health declaration during the joining process. You may not use the gym until you have done so.
2. No freeloaders. We keep our memberships affordable for all… so make sure you’ve got your own! We check usage regularly and anyone found to be sharing their gym access with another person will have their membership suspended. It’s technically stealing!
3. No under 16s. Our minimum age limit is 16 years old, so you need to be 16+ to join our gyms. We will ask for ID if we believe you may be underage. Please don’t be offended if you’re lucky enough to be asked.
4. Be gym savvy. If you’re new and not sure where to start or how to use the equipment, please book an induction so that we can make sure you’re safe, confident, and having a great time.
5. If in doubt, ask! Please don’t struggle. If you need any help at all whilst in the gym, please speak to one of our friendly team members. If you don’t know how to use something we can show you how to use it safely and like a total pro!
6. Train safe. Heavy things can be dangerous! To avoid injury, please take care and pay attention when handling weights and other equipment. Don’t attempt anything which puts you at risk. Grab a spotter to help.
7. Dress for the occasion. Please wear clothing and footwear designed for exercise. Jeans are a no. Work boots, flip-flops, slides and Crocs are not ok! No, not even in sport-mode… Not because we’re no fun, but just because we don’t want you to get hurt. We know you look great, but please never train topless or undress in the gym or studios.
8. Keep it fresh. Good personal hygiene is a must when visiting us. Members should arrive at the gym in clean, presentable, inoffensive clothing and keep bodily odours at bay.
9. Keep an eye on your stuff. JD Gyms accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property, so with this in mind please make sure you keep your own belongings safe and secure. We keep items in lost property for 2 weeks, after which point, they may be discarded or donated to charity.
10. Use the lockers. Bags, coats, and other unnecessary items are not allowed on the gym floor. They pose a trip hazard, plus it’s messy and we don’t like mess! Please store your belongings in a locker and only bring with you what you genuinely need for your workout.
11.Don’t hog the lockers. When you leave after your workout, all belongings must be taken away with you. Any items left in lockers overnight will be removed by our team. If we need to cut a padlock to gain entry to a locker it will not be replaced by us.
12. Tidy gym, happy gym! Any equipment you use should be put back in its proper place once you’ve finished. We’ll be keeping an eye out for repeat offenders, and you may lose your membership if you leave the gym in a mess. Let’s keep the gym tidy for everyone.
13. Please bring a sweat towel with you if it’s going to be a sweaty one! Any sweat, water or chalk left on equipment should be wiped off for the benefit of the next user.
14. Don’t leave puddles. If you have a shower, please ensure that you towel dry before leaving the shower area. You should not enter the sauna or changing area whilst wet.
15. Don’t pour liquids in the saunas. Our saunas are dry. The heating element is electrical and as such, pouring liquids onto it is very dangerous and will result in damage.
16. In the sauna, you MUST wear proper swimming gear, shorts / underwear. Nakedness is not ok.
17. No smoking or vaping in the gym. No, not even in the toilet!
18. Treat the equipment like it’s your own. We kindly ask that you treat the gym equipment with care and do not misuse it as this can result in things becoming damaged and out of order.
19. Be punctual for classes. If you attend classes, please arrive ahead of the scheduled start time. If a class is already underway the instructor may refuse entry.
20. Let’s all leave on time. When the gym is closing, we kindly ask that you leave on time so that our staff can lock up the gym.
21. Don’t dilly dally. Resting between reps and sets is totally fine, but please try not to hog equipment unduly.
22. Mind your manners. Whilst in the gym, please be kind and courteous to other members and our staff. We do not tolerate aggressive or abusive behaviour.
23. Please, no paparazzi! You must not capture any photos or videos of other members in the gym without their consent.
24. Don’t drink and gym. You may not use the gym under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This includes any prescription drugs which may affect your ability to use the gym safely.
25. No unauthorised Personal Training. The only people permitted to offer training sessions with our members are JD PTs. Anyone found to be offering sessions to members without our permission will be asked to leave.
26. Keep us up to date. If your address, contact details or medical health change, please let us know so that we can ensure we have your correct information on file in case of emergency.
27. The studio is designed for timetabled group exercise classes with multiple participants and an instructor. Members using the studio alone and outside of these times do so at their own risk.
28. Please don’t bring your own equipment into to the gym. For your own safety and the safety of others, you should only use gym equipment provided by us. Feel like we’re missing something you need? Let us know!
29. No animals in the gym, except assistance dogs.
30. Remember to smile, you’re on camera. We use CCTV to monitor the gym and keep it safe and secure for everyone. Please be always on your best behaviour and respect others.
31. Our team in the gym have the right to terminate your membership for breach of any of the above rules, or anything else deemed to not meet the standards we expect members to uphold.
