Class Spotlight: X-Fit at JD Gyms

What is our X-Fit class?

JD Gyms X-Fit is a high-intensity functional fitness workout that includes:

  • Functional movements
  • Gymnastics
  • Olympic weightlifting
  • Running, rowing, skiing

This exciting and engaging class aims to improve your overall fitness and strength through full body workouts, which incorporate a wide variety of movements. The combination of cardiovascular exercise and strength training allows you to build muscular endurance as well as general fitness and even improved agility.

The beauty of functional training is how it impacts everyday life. The more you do the workouts, the more you’ll start to notice that day to day activities seem easier. It can help you to move with more freedom and can even build resilience to injuries which you might usually sustain from repetitive exercise like running.

Every class is around 45 minutes, with the perfect balance of cardio and strength work. We think everyone should give it a go!

 

Can anyone do X-Fit?

Yes! You don’t have to be super fit or amazing at all the movements from the get-go; that’s the best thing about our X-Fit classes, it’s so inclusive! As you will notice in the workout, everything can be scaled, meaning that you can go at your own pace and select weights appropriate for you. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a total beginner, our Fitness Coaches will be happy to help you push your limits and of course, have fun too!

 

Each workout varies, but it could look a little something like this:

Warm up:

Two rounds, in pairs:

A – Any cardiovascular machine (e.g., RowErg, SkiErg, Curved Treadmill)

B – 4x reps with 1 dumbbell on each exercise

  • Good mornings
  • Front squats
  • Strict Press

Main Workout:

In a pair: 30-minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) in the you-go-I-go format

  • 400m (RowErg, SkiErg, Curved Treadmill)
  • Sled Push x 4 lengths
  • 400m (RowErg, SkiErg, Curved Treadmill)
  • Sandbag lunges x 20
  • 400m (RowErg, SkiErg, Curved Treadmill)
  • 30x Wall balls
  • 400m (RowErg, SkiErg, Curved Treadmill)
  • 20 Burpee box jumps/Burpees

Workout of the Day (WOD):

7 min EMOM (every minute on the minute)

  • Devil press x 4
  • Burpees x 3
